Here are the steps for submitting an entry in the 4G Wireless Education Competition:
Important notes:
One entry per person.
Once submitted, entries CANNOT be edited or changed. Use the steps below to prepare your polished entry.
Entry deadline is 6:00 pm (Eastern Time) on November 1, 2009.
1. Preview the Judging Criteria and important dates in the Competition Summary and Rules pages.
2. Compose your entry offline in a word processing program. You will make three separate elements for the entry:
A. Entry Essay (maximum 500 words) to include the following information in narrative form:
i) Goals and objectives of the educational application
ii) Description and potential size of the target audience
iii) Rationale for using wireless technology
Hint: Use your word processor's Word Count feature to keep your entry essay under 500 words
B. Personnel Requirements - i.e. the number and type of personnel needed in order to give the reader a sense of staff and cost required.
C. Generic Equipment Requirements - i.e. what is necessary for a successful project
IMPORTANT Hint : bulleted lists and numbered lists will probably need to have spacing adjusted when you "paste" into the online form. Keep formatting to a minimum. Simple is fine.
3. Save your entry document where you can find it later. If you are selected as a finalist, you will use it as a start in providing the additional information for your finalist entry. DO NOT PROCEED until your entry is polished and ready to submit.
4. When ready, Register to enter using the small link at the very top of this page. You do not need a confirmation email to proceed. Make a note of your username and password in case you wish to see your completed entry later.
5. Once you register, you may immediately LOG IN using the username and password you just created.
6. Click Submit Your Entry at the left to bring up the web form.
7. Copy/paste each of your three entry elements into the appropriate portion of the form, adjusting any spacing or numbering:
Entry Essay,
Personnel Requirements, and
Equipment Requirements.
8. Enter your email address as your digital signature indicating your agreement with the Terms and Conditions of the competition.
9. Click Submit ONLY ONCE! Please wait while the information is stored. DO NOT click Submit more than once or use the Back button. This could corrupt your entry.
10. You may log into this site at any time before February to change your contact information in your "Account Details."
11. Please keep your email address and telephone number up to date and set your email to accept all email from these domains so you will not miss any finalist or winner notifications:
sflinc.org
nebsa.org
iriseducation.org
12. Finalists will be notified via email on or before December 7, 2009, and will be required to submit Phase 2 submissions via email by January 4, 2010. Finalist documents will include:
A Word document (2003) expanded narrative of their Phase One entry, suitable for publication: 1000 total words or less.
A PowerPoint 2003 presentation providing a complete description of the proposed application, including all the elements required of Phase One submissions, and an accompanying script for the narration in the Notes area of the Powerpoint. PowerPoint submissions may incorporate links to online content created by the entrant.
