Competition Phase One
Phase One entries must submit the following:
1. Fully completed entry information including acceptance of Competition Terms and Conditions which release online publication rights for the entry to CLEAR™, The Source for Learning and NEBSA .
2. A narrative text addressing the following topics in a maximum of 500 words total:
i) Goals and objectives of the educational application
ii) Description and potential size of the target audience
iii) Rationale for using 4G wireless broadband technology
In addition, entrants will be expected to provide:
3. Personnel requirements - i.e. the number and type of staff required
4. Generic equipment requirements - i.e. what is necessary for a successful project
Only one entry per person. All submissions become the property of CLEAR™, The Source for Learning, and NEBSA and will not be returned.
Phase One entries must be submitted per instructions in the Entry Info, using the form on this website, no later than 6:00 pm (Eastern Time) on November 1, 2009. Authors of up to thirteen entries judged as finalists who best meet the goals of the competition will be notified on or before December 7, 2009.
Competition Phase Two: Finalists
Finalists must submit the following:
1. An expanded narrative of their Phase One entry, suitable for publication: 1000 total words or less.
2. A PowerPoint presentation providing a complete description of the proposed application, including all the elements required of Phase One submissions, and an accompanying script (in the Notes area) for the narration. PowerPoint submissions may incorporate links to online content created by the entrant.
Formats of Submissions:
All Phase Two descriptions submitted must be in either Microsoft Word 2003 (.doc) or Adobe (.pdf). The PowerPoint must be in PowerPoint 2003 (.ppt) format with narration in the Notes area. Any submission not in the appropriate format will not be considered.
Deadline for receipt of finalist submissions via email is January 4, 2010. Finalists will be notified of the submission email address.
Winning entries will be notified by phone and/or email by January 25, 2010.
Judging Criteria
6 Points - Logic and clarity of instructional design
4 Points - Effective and innovative use of 4G wireless broadband
4 Points - Impact on target audience and potential for replication
3 Points - Organization and clarity of the written proposal
3 Points - Organization and clarity of the PowerPoint presentation (Finalists only)
No employees or individuals connected with Clearwire, CLEAR™, The Source for Learning, Inc., or NEBSA are eligible to enter.
The decisions of the judges and members of the NESBA Competition Committee will be final.
